Security Analyst Course (Udemy)
As part of my ongoing journey toward becoming a Security Analyst, I recently completed a Security Analyst course on Udemy. This course gave me a broader understanding of what the role looks like and helped bridge my day to day work with the work of a Security Analyst. Discussing Policies, Procedures, Threat Landscape, Auditing, Vulnerabilities, an Pen Testing.
One of the biggest takeaways for me was the CIA tried; That has also been added on to. The triad now includes Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authentication, and Nonrepudiation. The course walked through the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) needed for this position. The core responsibilities of documentation, evaluation, and assessments of systems, apps, and risk. It gave me a holistic view of an organizations needs when it comes to a Security team.
The course also introduced and reinforced key concepts around:
- Auditing and Vulnerability Assessments
- Types and Phases of Penetration tests
- Methodologies and Guidelines
Overall, I feel more confident in my understanding of the Security Analyst role and how different tools, processes, and concepts come together in practice. This is another step forward in my goal of breaking into cybersecurity, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on this foundation.
